Reassign Direct Reports

The Reassign Direct Reports tool allows administrators to efficiently transfer all direct reports from one supervisor to another. This is particularly useful during organizational changes, supervisor departures, or departmental restructuring.

How to Reassign Direct Reports

Accessing the Tool

  1. Navigate to Options: Click the Options button from the main navigation menu.
  2. Select Reassign Direct Reports: Click on Reassign Direct Reports in the list of options on the left side of the page.

Reassigning Direct Reports

Step 1: Select Original Supervisor

  • Use the Original Supervisor dropdown to select the supervisor whose direct reports you want to reassign.
  • The dropdown will show all active supervisors in the system.

Step 2: Select New Supervisor

  • Use the New Supervisor dropdown to select the supervisor who will receive the direct reports.
  • Ensure the new supervisor has the appropriate permissions.

Step 3: Execute the Reassignment

  • Click the Reassign button to transfer all direct reports.
  • The system will process the change and update all affected employee records.
  • A confirmation message will appear once the reassignment is complete.

What Happens During Reassignment

When you reassign direct reports:

  • All direct reports under the original supervisor are transferred to the new supervisor.
  • Employee records are updated automatically to reflect the new reporting relationship.
  • Historical data is preserved - previous supervisor relationships remain in the audit trail.

Troubleshooting

Common Issues:

  • Supervisor not appearing in dropdown: Ensure the person has the "Supervisor" setting enabled on their detail record.
  • No direct reports to reassign: Verify the original supervisor actually has direct reports.
  • Permission errors: Confirm you have administrative rights to perform reassignments.

Reassigning direct reports affects multiple employee records simultaneously. Double-check your selections before clicking the Reassign button.
